The Panama City utility director says a corroded sewer line broke and caused a sinkhole at the intersection of Jenks and Airport Road. It happened just before 4p.m. Saturday.
The hole is about 5 feet in diameter and nearly 13 feet deep. The utility director says the entire sewer line in that area will have to be replaced, meaning the road will need to be torn apart.
Police say the outside southbound lanes are closed until further notice.
Drivers are being urged to avoid the intersection because other areas in the road could collapse.
