What started as a sinkhole has now washed away over 50 feet of road, closing Oregon Highway 22W between the Willamette and the Oregon Coast.
Earlier Monday, Oregon State Police were flagging traffic in alternate directions around a sinkhole as the Oregon Department of Transportation responds.
The sinkhole was reported to be 4 inches deep by 4 feet by 20 feet.
ODOT now reports that 50 to 60 feet of roadway has washed away, closing the highway between Dolph and Midway at milepost 12.
