Sinatra Drive between 12th and 14th streets remains closed to street traffic due to a large sinkhole that developed Friday near 13th Street.
The 50-foot long, 15-foot wide hole has left a gaping view of the Hudson River beneath the street.
The work to fix the crater will not begin until engineers fully assess the situation, city spokesman Juan Melli said.
Sinatra Drive between 12th and 14th Street is expected to remain closed for two to four weeks, city officials have said.
“We’re just waiting for the report,” Melli said Friday, noting that the county engineer had taken a quick look, but that the city would “wait and see” what the engineers conclude before deciding upon a course of action.
Officials Saturday feared that additional portions of the road would fall in because of tidal activity, but there had been no further collapse Sunday.
