Euclid Street, Santa Monica, CA. September 2007

A sinkhole had opened up about 7 a.m. on Euclid St. and Ocean Park in Santa Monica after a water main break, washing away most of the substrate that was used to support the pavement. The resultant sinkhole consumed a parked car. One rough estimate was about 25 feet long and 8 feet deep.
